Downy Woodpecker

Downy Woodpecker

I had this fun notion of taking a sunrise photo this morning to start things off.  You know, all symbolic and stuff?  Being New Years day though, I woke up at seven, turned off my alarm, and promptly went back to sleep.  We’ll leave that for a later project, I guess.

Instead I bring you a shot of a Downy Woodpecker, taken at a local park.

I’m still working out the bugs and figuring out the best way to set the content up on here, so things are subject to change, but the goal is to bring forward a new picture every day.  Preferably taken that day, but there will be limitations and circumstances, I’m sure.  Examples:  Sleeping through sunrise.

I used my 70-200 f4 lens, zoomed in all the way to 200mm, firing at 1/1000, f5.6, with an ISO setting of 1250.  A nice mostly overcast day.  We piled some seeds up on a log, backed up, and the birds had at it.
