Panorama of the Georgia Strait

The end of Canada

On the one hand I want to suggest you open the full size, on the other hand I don’t want to kill your bandwidth.  Either way, today you’re getting a panorama taken from a tiny little mountain near Lantzville.

Those mountains off in the distance are North America.  Specifically, Canada.  I’m looking out at the edge of the mainland, and it looks pretty.  The trail to get to this lookout isn’t the most pleasant adventure for the knees, but the view is worth it.  I would have loved to stay for the sunset, as even though it would be setting in the other direction, it cast some beautiful colours across the eastern sky.  However, that would mean the hour spent hiking back down would have been in darkness, and I’m pretty sure that’s one of the most likely ways I’m meant to die.  We made sure to give ourselves time to get back to lower ground.

This is a composite of three shots stitched together, all taken with the same settings.  I used my 24-70mm f2.8 lens zoomed all the way out at 24mm, a 1/250 second exposure at f5.6, and ISO 100.
