During the shoot yesterday, Amanda had found a leaf that was in a very unique style of decomposition. She was kind enough to let me have it before I had a chance to start getting some tears going while sobbing “but I wants”, which allowed me to go home with both my dignity, and a subject for today.
Macro photography is fun because just about anything can look really cool up close. When you combine that aspect with something that already looks cool, you… hopefully get something that looks pretty cool, I guess. I don’t know where I’m going with this.
I shot this with my 90mm f2.8 Macro lens. I had a shutter speed of 1/60, f22, and ISO 100. I used a bare flash sitting to the left of the leaf, and had it resting on a glass table. Due to the settings, no ambient light was getting to the sensor, and since the flash was pointed across the leaf instead of down at it, the carpet about a foot and a half below stayed nice and dark.
