Anthurium Night

Anthurium Night

Day 28 and here we go with the start of a slew of flower pictures!

Yesterday I bought Vahida some flowers for her birthday. I did my usual thing of going to the florist and saying “I need a bunch of flowers, her favourite colour is red”. From there, I let them do their thing because they are the experts and know how to make it look awesome. As part of the arrangement, she grabbed two of these awesome looking guys. I am no Floriculturist and have no idea what type of flower this is (Vahida found out it is an Anthurium), but I really like them because they look very fake, though they are very real.

Currently I am a one light show, which causes some issues with studio photography. I had to work out of the office today so I wasn’t able to get anything set up at lunch to take advantage of any natural light. This caused me to have to get out the flash and try some different lighting. With just the one light and two hands, I wasn’t able to get the shot how I wanted it. So I decided that I would take multiple pictures, each with different lighting, and then combine them together into one photo to get the lighting that I was going for. This photo is a combination of 5 pictures that have been blended with Photoshop’s auto blend process and then some touch up work  – mostly on the background.

I used my Canon 7D Mark 1 with a Canon 24-70 F4 L lens at 47mm, shooting at 1/100, F22, with an ISO setting of 100. It was probably a nice day today, but this was totally shot indoors with a flash.
