Day 29 and here is another flower shot for you. I won’t lie, nature photography, outdoors or in studio, is by fair my favourite. There is not a lot to say about this shot other than the obvious – it is of a rose and shot from the top down. I was a little worried about the lighting for this shot and still getting the background to be black. To help, instead of relying completely on the light and high F stop to black out the background, I put the vase and flower on top of my black winter jacket. This combined with the light allowed for me to get things jet black. I was out at a client’s again today, and with the snow storm it took me a lot longer to get home that usual. Because of this I missed out again on any chance of including natural light into my shot. I am pretty happy with how the lighting of this came out though, seeing as it is only one shot.
This was a fairly quick shot and all in all not a lot of edits once I downloaded onto the computer. There was of course the converting it to black and white and then standard enhancements such as some touch ups with the blacks and contrast, but that is about it.
I used my Canon 7D Mark 1 with a Canon 24-70 F4 L lens at 70mm, shooting at 1/60, F22, with an ISO setting of 100. This was a studio style shot where I used my flash and a piece of white card paper to help bounce and even out the light.
