Day 32 marks the official start of us trying to remember what day we are on. Today was another busy day. Vahida and I got up and headed out to see my parents for a little tour of Toronto. We didn’t have any big plans other than to hang out with them. We drove around and I thought we would hit up some stores that they don’t have up north, but instead ended up at Walmart. We did get to Indigo though to buy Settlers of Catan, which Vahida and I have been wanting to buy for a few months now. Since with my parents we would have 4 players, today was the day to make the purchase!
After playing a quick almost 2 hour game, we headed back to Uncle Neil’s with pizza for dinner. The city by this stage had a layer of snow and the roads were getting slippery. I decided that we should not visit for too long and get home, since I knew I still had to grab a shot for today. Now that I think of it though, I already decided that Sunday’s were going to be an archive day so I totally outdid myself.
So far during this project, I have not taken any photos of people. I am generally not the biggest fan of people photography, but today I wanted to test out lighting with one flash and card fill on a person. I knew that the first people photo I should post would have to be of my beautiful wife. We tried a few different looks, but nothing beats her smile. The one learning that we took from this though is that she needs to wear a white hijab so that her head doesn’t blend in so much with the background.
I used my Canon 7D Mark 1 with a Canon 24-70 F4 L lens at 61mm, shooting at 1/125, F7.1, with an ISO setting of 100. It was a sunny day today for the most part, but this was a studio style shot where I used my flash and a white card to bounce light onto the right side.
