I debated if I was going to pull out the gear and grab a shot today, or post something from the archive, but a trip to Kitchen Stuff Plus for some plates helped me make the decision when we picked up these awesome mini pie dishes. Although Vahida liked them as much as I did, she was on the fence about buying them, so I told her that I would make her a pie today if she agreed. It worked.
I am no champion pie baker by any means, but I do know the basics of it and when I have some time, they are fun to make. A few years ago I did a lot of practicing with apple pies and learned how to do that neat lattice crust (turns out it is easy). For today though, instead of apple we went with a blueberry/strawberry mix using frozen fruit because it is cheaper than the fresh stuff. I would post the recipe if I followed one, but mostly I just tossed this one together.
I used my Canon 7D Mark 1 with a Sigma 80-400 lens at 223mm, shooting at 1.3, F13, with an ISO setting of 100. It was an overcast day but there was a decent amount of light coming in from the window. I used a flash with a softbox for the main light, and a white card reflector to the right to even things out.
