Duck flying along the snow

Vroooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom

Confirmed.  Go to the waterfront in the winter, and you’ll have ducks.  They jam in the spots of water beneath ships, and every once in a while will fly over to other spots of water beneath ships to see what’s going on with the other ducks.

I grabbed a shot of one doing his very minimal migration.  Ducks in flight delight me because they really don’t look like they’re meant to fly. I mean, I get it, they get airborne and meet the criteria, but you never see a duck soaring among the thermals the way a hawk does. There is very little grace or majesty going on when they travel.  I’m not even sure if they’re capable of landing anywhere other than in water, they come in so hard.

I got this masterpiece with my 24-70mm f2.8 zoomed in to 70.  I shot at 1/640 of a second and f11, with an ISO of 100.
