I went out with my crazy-zoom in hopes of getting a shot of the hawks that hang out in my area. As I was walking down the street towards the park, two were soaring by overhead. Here are some great hawk facts for you to enjoy:
- Hawks fly pretty fast and you probably aren’t going to catch them
That is all.
I wandered around the park for a bit, and there were a fair amount of people out on the pond in high park showing their disdain for the “Don’t go on the ice” signs. It looked like there was a shovelled laneway between a couple of “rinks”, and some people were doing laps back and forth. I noticed that with the right framing, you could cut out the foreground, cut out the houses on the hill, and give a pretty good look of isolation in the area. That’s what I tried to do here.
I shot this with my 150-600mm lens, zoomed out at 220mm. I shot at 1/1250 of a second with an f11 aperture and ISO 800, because I was still kind of in “bird mode” when I decided to grab this.
