Every two weeks Vahida and I have a date day (or night) where sometimes we go out for dinner and a movie, sometimes we stay in or sometimes we venture around and try to do something a little different. Today we decided that it was time to dust off the skates and go out to Evergreen Brickworks for a skate around and a hike afterwards.
While we were there I was hoping to get a shot of some birds. The area has a lot of woodland where I thought birds would be ample in. Turns out I was wrong. We had a great walk around, and the area is just beautiful in the winter. As we were strolling, a hawk suddenly flies into the area and starts to circle above. Instantly I got excited and started to trace his flight hoping he would come low enough to grab a shot. He didn’t. Jerk.
The day went on, and we had a great time at Brickworks. I got some shots of the city and we enjoyed our date day outing. Instead of heading home though, I wanted to show Vahida were I have been going to grab the different bird shots I have taken. The sun was still bright in the sky and when we got to Sunnybrook park, and perched in a tree were two Mourning Doves. It was a perfect find and a great sight to end a great day.
This was taken with my Canon 7D using the Sigma 80-400mm lens shooting at 1/800 second, F8 and ISO 400. Today was a beautiful sunny day and the sun was bright in the sky.
