Karahi Gosht

I am doing an archive post for today from a shot I did for the recipe cards we gave out at the BBQ day of the wedding. This shot is of lamb curry that Vahida’s mom makes. Since the BBQ day was all about food, family and friends, I wanted to give out something that was a little bit of my family, and a little bit of Vahida’s and since both our mom’s love to cook – recipes felt like the perfect fit. There was a total of eight recipes that will all make it to this blog at some point.

I used my Canon 7D Mark 1 with a Canon 50mm lens, shooting at 1/4 of a second, F4, with an ISO setting of 1. I can’t remember what the weather was this day, but it was after dark and I used a flash to light the shot.

Here is the recipe:

INGREDIENTS:

Lamb meat
4-5 Diced fresh tomatoes
4 tbsp Crushed tomatoes
2 Onion
2 tbsp Ginger garlic
5 Cloves
1 Cinnamon stick
2 tsp Coriander powder
2 tsp Cumin powder
2 tsp Red chili powder
4 tsp Karahi gosht masala
Fresh Coriander
2 tsp Salt
1 tsp Turmeric Oil
1 cup water

INSTRUCTIONS: Combine lamb, cumin, ginger, garlic, cinnamon, cloves, salt, turmeric, 3 tbsp oil, and water in a pot. Put it on medium heat and let it cook for about half an hour. In another pot, on medium high heat combine oil, sliced onion, and fresh tomatoes. Add 4 tbsp of crushed tomatoes. Keep stirring until all of the water from the tomatoes evaporate. Then add the cooked meat into it. Add Karahi gosht masala. Put it on low heat for about 15 mins. Then garnish with fresh coriander and ginger.
