Today, Vahida and I picked up our new Audi! It was a very exciting day for us, with a hint of sadness since I was giving away my old Betsy. It was a good car to me, and when I think back, I had a lot of fun thanks to her four wheels. But, today marks the start of a new batch of fantastic road memories that I get to share with my wife and her dream car – something I am very much looking forward to.
We got to the dealership at around 5PM and shortly after that they pulled our car into the delivery showroom and started to prep it with the last minute wipe downs and final checks. Our salesman, Paul (who by the way was incredible and gave us an amazing experience), was really excited for us and “Our first Audi”. His co-worker, Colin, set about finalizing all the paperwork for us which included a whole slew of signatures and initials – enough to give us a hand cramp. But, once the paper work was all over, it was time to focus on the car and its many, many buttons and dials. Colin was great to sit with us and talk through all the functions and setup to help us understand exactly what everything does, and how the car could be customized. A nice little surprise was finding out that Paul had already personalized the car’s Bluetooth name as Chuck & Vahida’s A4. It’s the little things that make me happy. After a good deal of time with Colin, it was time to jump in the car, with me (for the first time since we’ve been married) in the passenger seat, and wave goodbye to the dealership for our maiden voyage.
This shot was taken with my phone, and to be honest, I didn’t know it turned out this good with the light streaks. I kind of wish I did this with my DSLR so that I could have blown out the background. Lightroom tells me this was ISO 40, F2.2 at 1/270 of a second. Today started off pretty nice, but by the end it was bloody cold and I think I saw snow on the drive home.
