Candle Glow

Candle Glow

Hey, my counter has awesome reflections! Today I was looking at this oil scent thing that I have and thought about doing a shot of a candle with some sort of nice glow in the background. I took to getting out some tea light candles and the shot of a candle was simple enough, but to get the glow took some testing. First, I put a second tea light behind hoping that would solve things, but I realized that I need something for it to reflect off of. I tried a single piece of paper, but it wasn’t big enough. This brought me to trying some other items, like a white towel, 4 pieces of paper taped together, our spare furnace filter, and finally, the winner – the cutting board. It took a few shots to get the distance right, but I am happy with the outcome.

I used my Canon 7D Mark 1 with a Canon EF 24-70mm F4 L lens at 30mm, shooting at 10 seconds, F22, with an ISO setting of 100. Today was a nice day.
