Balcogarden

Balcogarden

This was a crazy busy weekend for us. With the sun out as bright as it was, we knew we had to make the most of it. This involved a road trip to get some balcony plants yesterday and also miss-judging how much soil we would need. The result was me waking up this morning and heading out to a place close by to get the remainder of what we need. Once home, we set about finishing our balcony garden.

For years I have been in love with the idea of a garden. The concept that you can take a seed, water, dirt and love and grow amazing things is just a fascination of mine. A few years ago, I took over cousin Louie’s garden as a little project which was a huge amount of fun for me and it really produced a lot of vegetables. There was the issue of distance though since they are in Bradford and I Toronto. My want has always been to have something a little more local – ideally a community lot, but with the move last year we are now in a place that gets mega sunlight. For many years I have faced North, which has meant little sun, but now that we are South facing, the sun blazes onto the balcony for most of the day. It is a little windy, but I am excited to see what we get.

We picked up:

Lettuce, Cherry Tomatoes, Sweet Basil, Purple Basil, Coriander or Cilantro, Chives, Spearmint, Sage, Oregano,  Arugula, Hot Banana Peppers, and Thai Chili Peppers
