This is the steam clock located in Gastown, a small district near the waterfront of downtown Vancouver. It’s a neat little area that always seems relatively quiet for being right by the downtown core. In this instance it was 6:30 in the morning on a weekday, so that makes sense, but even on a Friday evening this area was pretty quiet.
If you ever happen to be in the area, I strongly suggest checking out the Pourhouse. They have a burger there that makes me wonder why I should ever waste my time eating any other food in my life. I might as well just sustain myself off some bland nutrient paste from now on, since the finest of fruits would compare to ash after tasting such a fine burg.
I am currently filled with longing.
In any case, Gastown also has a neat steam powered clock that was built in the late 70’s. It doesn’t make amazing burgers, but it can tell the time, which is handy. I took a picture of it like many tourists would while on my morning stroll. Thankfully it was so early, I didn’t run the risk of having any other tourists in the shot. A perk of reverse jetlag.
I took this with my 24-70mm lens, shooting at 1/80 and f2.8 at ISO 800.
