I bought an Ikea shelf, and it came with this bug.
At least I hope that’s where it came from.
In any case, I figured it would make for a fun focus stacking attempt. Unfortunately things didn’t work out. While the body was nice and clear, the areas around appendages had a blur to them. This was partly due to lens breathing, and partly due to the fact that when the area in question was in focus, an antenna or something else in front of that spot was blurred and covering it, meaning no clear image of that area.
Oh well, failures tend to be more educational than most successes. Here is one slice of the attempted sequence, taken with my 90mm macro lens at 1/80 and f6.3 with an ISO of 200.
