Today was our Eid celebration and it was really rather great. The day was busy, and it had a small hiccup, but it was truly beautiful. It started at 6:20am when we woke up to get ready for Eid prayer at the mosque. We put on our new Eid clothes and Vahida looked extremely pretty with a green themed outfit. Prayer was at 8 and afterwards there was celebration with the brothers and sisters before heading over to our Sheikh’s house for some amazing food and mingling.
From there it was home to get things packed up and ready for our day out at the park for our Eid dinner BBQ. Generally, we have this dinner at Mom and Dad Badat’s, but this year we wanted to venture out. We had plans to go to Earl Bales park and set up the picnic, but once we got there we found out that it was complete and utter chaos. The parking lot was rammed full and there was no place to think about setting up.
This caused some stress and worry, but we took to Google to find out some options and discovered a new park that I am now eager to go back to and explore – G. Ross Lord Park. We got there, and although it was busy, we found a picnic table, made phone calls to let everyone know of the venue change and got to setting up the day.
In the end, we had a wonderful time and we are truly thankful for those who we were able to share today with. Eid Mubarak, and may Allah bless you and your family. Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullah.
