A beautiful blue dragonfly, and me without my macro lens! Thankfully while it may not be a 1:1 magnification ratio, my 70-200 at 1:4 still brings in enough detail to get the boys in the yard. Still, I’m excited at the prospect of getting up close and personal with one of these things at some point. They’re pretty neat, and their eyes look incredible.
I spotted this one flying around and followed it for a bit until it finally landed on a tree leaf in order to eat whatever poor blue caterpillar it had found. That’s right, the hunk of blue by its mouth is the tail end of lunch.
I took this in the shade with my 70-200mm lens shooting at 1/200 and f8, with an ISO of 800.
