I am getting a little obsessed with daytime HDR, I have to admit. The thing that I am finding this trip is that combining three pictures, one at the correct general exposure, one at a stop overexposed and one a stop under, I am able to get additional detail into the picture, where things would otherwise either be to blown out, or lost in the shadows. Often the issue with daytime photos is that there is a lot going on, and the sun is not able to be as even.
Today we took a drive to Sydney which is in the north of Nova Scotia in the Cape Breton island. It is a 5 hour drive from Halifax, and is said to be pretty beautiful – especially the cabot trail and the national park. Both of those are planned for tomorrow when we will also go whale watching.
This is a shot from our drive around today once we got here. We made our way to a beach and nearby was this pretty little bridge. This is three shots combined.
Canon 7D, 1/640 of a second, F7.1, ISO 100. Today was a beautiful day, although overcast.
