A while back, my friend posted an image on my Facebook wall that represented how he pictures me when I’m out shooting.
I liked the concept, but was also interested in the idea of trying to catch a butterfly while in flight.
Turns out butterflies are very janky while flying. I got a few shots of them, but aside from a feeling of satisfaction for doing it, the pictures weren’t actually pleasing or anything, so I didn’t expect to post them. I then moved on to other things flying around in the marsh, such as this here dragonfly!
I ended up not only getting it, but also getting it nicely separated from the background environment.
I took this with my 150-600mm lens, shooting at 1/1000 and f14 with an ISO of 800. This would have been a very expensive exercise if I was shooting film.
