Today was a bit of a fail, and I am going to embrace that fact. While we were doing our weekly laundry this morning, I took some time to take a shot. I enlisted Vahida’s help with the grand plan of the infamous full set steam shot. We set about getting the things set up, designing the set, laying out our props, eating marshmallows, and taking test shot after test shot to see how things would look. Once we were happy with the overall shot, I took to the steam – which by this stage, I thought would be a easy. The previous shots I have done gave me a good boost of confidence so I took to the set, poured in some steaming hot chocolate and started to snap.
Then it happened – no steam. Shot after shot, no steam. I tried new lighting layouts, with Vahida topping of the cup with hot water as we went. Alas, no steam was to be found.
I am not sure at this stage what happened, but the only thing I can think of is that it has to be a lighting issue. This will be a shot for another day.
