Waterfall of Steam

Waterfall of Steam

This was a last minute shot for the night. I decided that I would go for another steam shot, but this time something a little more crazy – pouring into the cup. At first things went pretty standard for this shot. I recently picked up a piece of plexiglass and painted the bottom black to use as a reflective surface, so I wanted to give that a try. I used that as my background and then lite the shot pretty much the same way I had success before with steam. I didn’t focus to much on the set design, just a little more than the plain cup. I tossed some tea leaves in there, with some spices to bring in some interest.

From there, it came to the pouring and the shooting. With a hot kettle in hand I started to pour and snap away. The problem is that it was really turning out good and I started to have a bit to much fun. That is a good problem to have, but this resulted in a crap ton of pictures being taken. I did a quick look through and decided that this is the one I will declare the winner, but I reserve the right to change my might once I look a little closer. For the blog though, this is the shot of the day.

PS: I am loving this mug.

Canon 7D, 1/30 of a second, F13 and ISO 100. Three flashes were used to light the shot in total. Today was a rainy, rainy day.
