9 months down. I was ready to call it quits after the first month. And the second. And the fifth when I mistakenly thought I was already half done. But the pictures continue to come along. Some impressive, some not, but each one I at least am able to note what I am happy about, and able to see where I went wrong, which I think is a good thing.
In any case, here’s the picture for today. Haven’t been on the other side of a camera in quite some time, which is how I like it, but I figured I’d dress up nice and take a shot. I used my softbox behind me as the only source and had the settings at a level that would keep it just blown out, while keeping the front of me completely under exposed aside from a little bit of spill on the sides.
What use is such a technique? Well, it has 3 great features:
- A distinct mood and feel of mystery and intrigue.
- You can’t tell that I have barbecue sauce in my beard.
- In trying on the suit 36 hours before needing to use it, I was able to notice I needed to find a 24 hour dry cleaner before it was too late.
This was taken with a 50mm lens, shooting at 1/50 and f8, with an ISO of 100.
