Woody Decay

Woody Decay

There is a lot of honking going on outside, and I am not sure why other than the fact that it is Toronto.

Decaying wood is really pretty awesome. I saw these two parallel logs with some nice green growth and thought that it looked rather pretty. I had a little issue with the sun since it was shining right onto part of the log, which made for some difficult exposure. In post though, I turned the highlights fairly far down which evened things out a lot. I have come to realize that bush and trail shots are much better with an overcast day. You might have to use a higher ISO, but the lighting works out better in the long run since you don’t have sunlight rays shining through blowing one or two spots out.

Canon 7D, 1/100 of a second, F4 and ISO 320. Today was an interesting day. I was on the road before the sun was up, and home just in time to enjoy some daylight, but then things turned windy and rainy.
