Lemon Drop

Lemon Drop

Water is pretty awesome and for tonight’s shot, I thought I would go about the good old splash photo. This is by no means original, a simple Google search will surely come up with many a shots that are like this, but I wanted to try my hand at it. Over the course of this year, both Jamie and I have done different treatments with water from misting flowers, to macro droplets, to now, straight up splashes. It was a fun shoot to do, and I am excited to try it again some time. I think all in all, I controlled the mess for the most part.

This took a few practice shots, but the lighting was pretty straight forward. I had one flash to the left, one behind and shooting at the top, and then a white wall to the right that was reflecting to even things out. I am no lighting pro by any means, and I am sure someone who is would comment of what is not right about this, but I am happy with it. Once the lighting was set, the fun part came where I got my remote trigger and went about dropping the lemon and bursting the camera. Vahida had a few goes as well and we both had a nice laugh on this one.

Canon 7D, 1/200 of a second, F13 and ISO 100. Today was wet, rainy, cold and windy. Ya we have had some better days.
