Balancing Act

Balancing Act

This is not a unique idea. This is not something I came up with while eating breakfast this morning. This idea was stolen from a Google image search. But you know what they say, you’ve never really made it until someone starts to copy you. I am that guy copying what I think is a great idea and a shot that really caught my eye. I was searching for ideas when this came up and I felt like it was something I had to try.

For the background I used a piece of tissue paper that I crunched up to make it very very wrinkly. That is a little photographer’s trick to add in some interest to the background, but also because hard fold lines draw the eye to much and are distracting. When something is wrinkled up a lot, everything blends together to create an appealing background. I put a light behind things flashing through the tissue paper which created a nice glow and then I used two other flashes to the side for main and fill light.

All in all, a fun little shoot.

Canon 7D, 1/100 of a second, F10 and ISO 100. Today was gorgeous out again, the little bit of a chill made for a nice walk.

Here is one a little different.
