Prior to this week I didn’t know that a Longtail duck was a thing. Turns out it is, and it turns out this time of year they are all hanging out in Hamilton Harbour. They seem to just enjoy hanging out in a big mob by the inlet, and dive for food.
Any time a boat comes by they all scatter, and then regroup again after a few minutes. I took this shot as they were getting out of dodge. They need a bit of runway space to get airborn.
I got this with my 150-600mm lens, shooting at 1/1600, f8, and ISO 800.
